Alexander the Great's empire broke apart into several kingdoms after his death (323 B.C.), each of them attempting to expand at the expense of the others.  Two of these, the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt and the Seleucid Kingdom of Syria and Persia, had achieved relative stability.  The battle of Raphia is the fifth clash between these two rivals.

A Double Blind Series game of the fighting in Normandy which occured after the Allied D-Day landings of June 6th, 1944. From a small foothold the Allies managed to enlarge and then break out of their perimeter trapping the bulk of two German armies in the Falaise-Argentan pocket.
